  1. What is a Marriage Officiant?
A Marriage Officiant is a person legally qualified to marry couples. I am the former Mayor and the appointed Marriage Officiant for the Village of Brookville, NY.  In addition, I am registered with the
City ofNew York (ID #1538098) to perform marriage ceremonies in the 5 boroughs.
  2. Why are you “the Honorable” Caroline Z. Bazzini?
As a current government official and a former Mayor, my title is “The Honorable.”
  3. Where do you perform your ceremonies?
Over the years, I have married couples from coast to coast, but the majority of my weddings are held here on Long Island. I officiate at mansions like NYIT DeSeversky in my hometown of Brookville, wedding venues like Leonard's Palazzo in Great Neck, hotels, apartments, private homes, beaches, country clubs, zoos, museums, botanical gardens, nature parks and just about any place you can think of.
  4. What kind of ceremonies do you perform?
The fast answer is: All kinds! Today's wedding ceremonies are as endless as your imagination. Choose from civil, heartfelt, romantic, spiritual, religious, adventurous, serious or fun – the possibilities are endless. If you’re not sure, I can help you decide.
  5. How involved do you get in our wedding?
Every couple seems to have a different approach, but I get as involved as you would like me to be. Whether or not you have a wedding planner is also an influencing factor. Overall, my job is to advise, coach and support you every step of the way so that your ceremony is your vision.
  6. Can we write our own vows?
Absolutely. Many of my wedding couples choose to write their vows or letters to one another and read or recite them as part of the ceremony. Remember, your wedding is all about the two of you.
  7. Can you write personal vows that are about us?
Yes, that’s what I do. Your vows will reflect who you are, your journey together, and can include traditions and symbols that are meaningful to both of you. No matter what you decide, I promise that your ceremony will be unique and unlike any other. You will receive a copy of your wedding vows as a keepsake gift. BTW, my Gold Package also includes your personal Love Story written by me.
  8. How far in advance should we book you?
It’s always best to contact me as soon as possible so I can hold the date for you. (In order to secure the date, I will need your deposit.) I also like to allow plenty of time to create a personalized and unique ceremony for you. However, not everyone can plan far in advance, and that’s ok, too.
  9. Are weddings the only ceremonies you do?
I am pleased to officiate at Anniversary Vow Renewals, Commitment Ceremonies, Elopements, Blessings and all types of celebrations you want commemorated.
  10. Do you travel to destination weddings?
Definitely. Destination weddings are very popular and lots of fun. If you have a destination wedding, I am happy to travel.
  11. We live out of state — how do we arrange to meet beforehand?
Getting to know one another is easy through email, phone, face chat, zoom and text. Travel distances and other factors often mean we don't meet until your wedding day. Even so, we build a bond so strong that guests find it hard to believe we haven't always known each other.)
  12. Do you perform same-sex ceremonies?
Absolutely. Marriage is about two people being in love who want to spend their lives together as a married couple. It’s my honor to be part of that process.
  13. What is the length of a wedding ceremony?
Most venues allow 30 minutes for the ceremony. But its length is a very personal thing. I have some couples who want their service to be “short and sweet” (10 minutes) and others who wish to "max out" the time. My ceremonies run an average of 20-25 minutes from the start of the processional to the recessional. No matter the length, I create my ceremonies so that both you and your guests are truly in the moment.
  14. Do your participate in the rehearsal?
As part of my services, we discuss the physical set up of your wedding ceremony and how you envision it. (If you don't know yet, we worth that out together.) Most venues set up for the rehearsal about 60-90 minutes before the ceremony and that is included in my fee. Many venues have their own rehearsal style and prefer to direct it themselves, but I am happy to participate in whatever way you would like.
  15. What details should I know in advance of the ceremony?
Most of my packages include a detailed Ceremony Set-Up Sheet, including a diagram of where the bridal party stands and/or sits, along with important "front row" guests. This becomes a template and guide for your wedding day.  In our last meeting or phone chat, we carefully review all the details so that on your big day, there is no sudden need for decision making -- just a run through that builds confidence and puts everyone at ease.
  16. What will you wear to the ceremony?
Unless we decide otherwise, I usually wear a plain black suit or judicial robe and (optional) white scarf.
  17. What about Rehearsal Dinners?
If you would like to rehearse prior to the day of the ceremony, we'll need to make arrangements in advance and there is a small charge for that.
  18. Is there a contract and what about fees?
I have a very simple, short letter of intent that I ask you to sign that states the cost, services and terms. My fees are based upon the nature and complexity of the ceremony — all clearly spelled out.
If I travel to a destination wedding, there are certain additional charges depending upon the location. Last minute “elopement” and simple civil ceremonies cost less.
  19. How does the payment schedule work?
I accept PayPal and personal checks. A 50% non-refundable deposit is due when you sign the contract. The balance is due no later than 21 days before your wedding.
  20. How do we know if you're right for us?
That's easy. We can arrange a complimentary, "no obligation" phone or face meeting. I can explain how everything works and you can ask as many questions as you like. Call my cell at (516-380-3838) or email me at: [email protected]
