  1. What is a Marriage Officiant?
A Marriage Officiant is a person legally qualified to marry couples. I am the former Mayor and the appointed Marriage Officiant for the Village of Brookville, NY.  I have performed scores of weddings for residents as well as couples in the surrounding areas.  In addition, I am an ordained Interfaith Minister.
  2. How do we choose our Officiant?
These days, almost anyone can officiate the legal aspects of a wedding, but it takes an experienced professional who has performed many weddings to provide the know-how to create the kind of ceremony that you and your guests will remember for years to come. Your Officiant literally sets the tone for the ceremony and lays the foundation for the rest of your wedding day.
  3. Where can you perform your ceremonies?
As a Marriage Officiant and Minister, I am legally entitled to perform wedding ceremonies anywhere in the U.S., including NYC (where I am an approved New York City Officiant registered with ID #1538098.)
  4. Why are you “The Honorable” Caroline Z. Bazzini?
As a current government official and a former Mayor, my title is “The Honorable.”
  5. What kind of ceremonies do you perform?
The fast answer is: All kinds! Today's wedding ceremonies are as endless as your imagination. Choose from civil, heartfelt, romantic, spiritual, religious, adventurous, serious or fun – the possibilities are endless. If you’re not sure, I can help you decide.
  6. Can we write our own vows?
Absolutely. Many of my wedding couples choose to write their vows or letters to one another and read or recite them as part of the ceremony. Remember, your wedding is all about the two of you.
  7. Can you write personal vows that are about us?
Yes, that’s what I do. Your vows will reflect who you are, your journey together, and can include traditions and symbols that are meaningful to both of you. No matter what you decide, I promise that your ceremony will be unique and unlike any other. You will receive a copy of your wedding vows as a keepsake gift.
  8. Do you perform same-sex ceremonies?
Yes. And I couldn’t be more pleased to do so. Marriage is about two people being in love who want to spend their lives together as a married couple. It’s my honor to be part of that process.
  9. Is there a contract and what are your fees?
I have a very simple, short letter of intent that I ask you to sign that states the cost, services and terms. My fees are based upon the nature and complexity of the ceremony — all clearly spelled out. If I travel to a destination wedding, there are certain additional charges depending upon the location. Last minute “elopement” and simple civil ceremonies cost less.
  10. How does the payment schedule work?
A 50% non-refundable deposit is due when you sign the contract. The 50% balance of your fee is due no later than the week before your wedding.
  11. How far in advance of our wedding should we contact you?
It’s always best to contact me as soon as possible so I can hold the date for you. (In order to secure the date, I will need your deposit.) I also like to allow plenty of time to create a personalized and unique ceremony for you. However, not everyone can plan far in advance, and that’s ok, too.
  12. Are weddings the only ceremonies you do?
I am pleased to officiate at Anniversary Vow Renewals, Commitment Ceremonies, Elopements, Blessings and all types of celebrations you want commemorated.
  13. Do you travel to destination weddings?
Definitely. Destination weddings are very popular and lots of fun. If you have a destination wedding, I am happy to travel.
  14. We are coming home to get married — how do we arrange to get together before hand?
Getting to know one another is easy through email, phone, face chat, skype and text. Travel distances sometimes mean we don't get to meet until your wedding day. Even so, we always feel as if we have known each for a long time.
  15. What is the best way to contact you?
I make it my purpose to be easily accessible. You can reach me on my cell phone (516-380-3838), by text; or email: MarryUsCaroline@aol.com
  16. What is the length of a wedding ceremony?
The length of a ceremony is a very personal thing. I have some couples who want them to be “short and sweet” (10 minutes) and others who wish to have a more traditional length of time. My ceremonies run an average of 20-25 minutes from the start of the processional to the recessional. No matter the length,  I create my ceremonies so that both you and your guests are truly in the moment.
  17. How do we know if you are right for us?
You get to decide. If you live nearby, I suggest we meet face-to-face for a complimentary get together. If you aren’t in the area, we can always phone chat and get to know one another that way. I have a form you can fill out and you can ask as many questions as you’d like. After that, you can make up your mind. To arrange a complimentary meeting, just call my cell at (516-380-3838) or email me at: MarryUsCaroline@aol.com
  18. How involved do you get in our wedding?
Every couple seems to have a different approach, but I get as involved as you would like me to be. Whether or not your have a wedding planner is also an influencing factor. Overall, my job is to advise, coach and support you every step of the way so that your ceremony and vows are the way you want them to be.
  19. Do your fees include the rehearsal?
Absolutely. For a variety of reasons, most couples tend to have rehearsals just before they get married. And that's part of my job. The rehearsal is an essential component of a beautiful and smooth-running ceremony. As part of my services to you, we discuss every aspect of the wedding vows and how you envision them. (And if you don't know yet, we worth that out together.) Then I make a detailed rehearse/Processional Ceremony Sheet including a diagram of where everyone stands and/or sits. This diagram is submitted to your Maitre d' for approval and to use as a guide at the rehearsal. Many venues have their own rehearsal style and prefer to direct it themselves, but if you would like me to conduct your rehearsal, you'll need to get permission from your venue, since technically it's their responsibility. In our last meeting or phone chat, we carefully review all the details so that on your big day, there is no sudden need for decision making -- just a run through that gets everyone confident and at ease.  If you would like to rehearse prior to the day of the ceremony, we'll need to make arrangements in advance.
  20. At what types of places do you perform your ceremonies?                                                   Mansions & wedding venues, hotels, apartments & private homes, beaches, country clubs, zoos, museums, botanical gardens and just about any place you can think of.
  21. What will you wear to the ceremony?
Unless we decide otherwise, I usually wear a plain black judicial robe and white scarf.
  22. Where do you perform your weddings?
I can go anywhere, and I do, but most of my weddings are performed in the tri-state area of New York, and now, in the Savannah, GA area.
  23. Do you provide other services?
Yes, Meal Blessings at the reception as well as Baby Blessings & Welcomes, Baby Naming Ceremonies and Memorial Services. I do not provide pre-marital counseling.
